About us

The Friends of the Fraser-Hickson Library group was established in 2004. Its mission is to ensure that the Fraser-Hickson continues to be a viable and vibrant part of the community, to attract new members to the library and to provide funds for special projects. Members of the Friends represent a cross-section of our multi-cultural community.

Faced with the possibility of the library's closure, many people have come forward to help. A petition campaign saw 13,000 signatures collected within a few weeks. Letters have been written to politicians and questions have been asked, and will continue to be asked, both at City Hall and at Borough meetings. Events such as story-telling, movie nights, a variety show and jazz concert have been organized to keep the plight of the Library in the public eye.
